Golden Globes Liked By Instagram: 34M Social Interactions During NBC Broadcast

EXCLUSIVE: NBC’s telecast of the 73rd Golden Globe Awards led the way on Instagram last night, with 11 million app users responsible for a total of 34 million social interactions. The social media app didn’t track last year’s Globes, but for comparison’s sake, 2015’s Oscar telecast pulled in 9 million app users for a total of 25 million social interactions.

Crazy Ex-Girlfriend star Rachel Bloom — who won a Globe for Best Actress in a TV Comedy — had the most liked (23.7K) video in the video experience on Instagram, featuring the actress in Spanx performing her “Sexy Golden Globey Song.”

NBC’s Shades Of Blue star Jennifer Lopez might not have taken home a Globe last night, but she was the winner of the top Instagram photo with 540K likes. Other notable celebrity mentions included Dwayne Johnson, Katy Perry, Lady Gaga and Kevin Hart.

Instagram celebrated the night by introducing an immersive video viewer experience with real-time curation on its Explore tab, featuring the best content from the Golden Globe Awards. The app says the feature is “a new in-app way to experience events and big moments, as they happen, through the eyes of the Instagram community.”
