Hulu Hoops A New Multi-Year Licensing Deal With Sony, Gets ‘The Shield,’ ‘Dawson’s Creek’ and ‘Jerry Maguire’ – TCA

Hulu and Sony announced a new deal today that will offer Hulu subscribers a library of Sony Pictures product, from archived series like The Shield, Dawson’s Creek and Party of Five to pics such as Jerry Maguire, Midnight in Paris and My Best Friend’s Wedding.

The deal also made possible Hulu’s recent offering of the Happy Endings series to subscribers. As with that show, all programs acquired through the Sony pact will be available for streaming via Hulu’s No Commercial and Limited Commercials subscription plans.

The announcement of the multi-year library agreement came while Hulu makes its panel presentations to the Television Critics Association.  News of the Sony Archive arrives following Hulu’s recent announcement of a deal with A&E Studios for exclusive streaming rights to past episodes of the series UnReal. Last year, Hulu acquired Seinfeld from Sony Pictures TV.

Hulu was also set to present TCA panels today on drama series 11.22.63 and The Path.
