ASC Awards Nominations: Big Names Back For Top Film Prize

Sicario‘s Roger Deakins, Bridge Of SpiesJanusz Kaminski, Carol‘s Ed Lachman, The Revenant‘s Emmanuel Lubezki and Mad Max: Fury Road‘s John Seale have been nominated in the theatrical release category for the 30th annual American Society of Cinematographers Awards. The winner will be revealed February 14 at the 30th annual ASC Awards gala at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza in LA.

Lubezki is going for a three-peat in the category, having won it the past two years for Birdman and Gravity. He reteamed with his Birdman director Alejandro G. Inarritu for Revenant, Fox’s snowy Western thriller starring Leonardo DiCaprio.

Roger Deakins on Sicario setDeakins has been nominated for the ASC award 14 times, last winning in 2013 for Skyfall. Seale won the award in 1997 for The English Patient.

Kaminski has never won, but was nominated for his Steven Spielberg collaborations Lincoln (2013), Saving Private Ryan (1999), Amistad (1998), and Schindler’s List (1994) as well as The Diving Bell And The Butterfly (2008).

Lachman was nominated in 2012 in the TV movie category for HBO’s Mildred Pierce, and in 2003 for Carol director Todd Haynes’ Far From Heaven.
