Mel Gibson & Olivia Wilde Set As Golden Globes Presenters

The HFPA doesn’t appear to be shying away from potential controversy at its upcoming trophy show. The group tweeted today that Mel Gibson will be a presenter at the 73rd annual Golden Globes on Sunday (along with Olivia Wilde).

This comes as the HFPA is welcoming Ricky Gervais back as host of its shindig after three years with Tina Fey and Amy Poehler. Globes watchers might recall that when Gervais hosted earlier this decade, he didn’t spare Gibson from his roasting of showbiz elite. In 2010, Gervais introduced Gibson by saying: “I like a drink as much as the next man — unless the next man is Mel Gibson.” The following year, after introducing Scarlett Johannson by noting that she’s a Jew, Gervais said: “Mel Gibson told me that. He’s obsessed.”

Place your bets as to what Gervais will say about Gibson this time. The easy money is on something about The Beaver.
