Reese Witherspoon Producing Drama Project ‘Please Don’t Go’ For ABC

ABC has put in development Please Don’t Go, an hourlong drama from We Are Your Friends scribe Meaghan Oppenheimer. Reese Witherspoon will executive produce with her producing partner at Pacific Standard, Bruna Papandrea.

Created/written by Oppenheimer, Please Don’t Go follows the personal and professional life of a ruthless divorce attorney in Dallas. Raised in the trailer parks of Texas, she has left behind a life of struggle amid squalor, working her way into a corner office and mansion in Dallas’s most prestigious neighborhood. But beneath her facade of togetherness, she’s plagued by self-destructive tendencies and long hidden family secrets that begin to unravel her life. ABC Studios is the studio.

Oppenheimer, repped by CAA, Management 360 and attorney Morris Yorn, is currently writing feature Kelly Jackson for Temple Hill and Fox 2000 . Her other writing credits include We Are Your Friends for Warner Bros. and Working Title and AMC’s Fear The Walking Dead.

Witherspoon and Papandrea’s Pacific Standard also is exec producing Tiny Beautiful Things, a drama project in development at HBO, based on Cheryl Strayed’s book.
