Universal Dates Michael Fassbender’s ‘The Snowman’

Universal Pictures has dated its Jo Nesbo adaptation The Snowman for release on October 13, 2017. The film stars Michael Fassbender as an elite crime squad’s lead detective investigating the disappearance of a victim on the first snow of winter. He fears an elusive serial killer may be active again. With the help of a brilliant recruit, Fassbender’s character must connect decades-old cold cases to the brutal new one if he hopes to outwit this unthinkable evil before the next snowfall.

Deadline broke the news that both Rebecca Ferguson (Mission: Impossible: Rogue Nation) and Charlotte Gainsbourg (Independence Day: Resurgence) had joined the cast.

Tomas Alfredson (Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy) directs, with Working Title’s dynamic duo Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner producing alongside Robyn Slovo and Piodor Gustafsson (The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo). A Working Title Films production—in association with Another Park Film—the project is exec produced by Nesbø, Niclas Salomonsson, Martin Scorsese, Alfredson, Liza Chasin and Amelia Granger.

The film starts principal photography January 18, and will shoot entirely on location in Norway in the cities of Oslo and Bergen and the area of Rjukan.
