‘The Awesomes’ Canceled By Hulu After 3 Seasons, Being Shopped To Other Outlets

Hulu has opted not to order a fourth season of its original animated comedy series The Awesomes created by Seth Meyers and Mike Shoemaker.

The Awesomes was one of the first full-length original scripted series on Hulu to stick. The show — which follows a group of up-and-coming superheroes — developed a cult following. Its most recent third season ended its run last month. Meyers and Shoemaker executive produced the series. I hear the producers are in discussions with other potential distributors.

After an early focus on off-beat comedies, Hulu has been ramping up its original slate with high-profile, high-end series like the upcoming J.J. Abrams-produced 11/22/63 limited series starring James Franco and Jason Reitman’s Casual.
