Of course, Oscar ballots don’t even go out Pete Hammond badgeuntil the end of the month, and there will be more big awards news next week when the Critics Choice Movie Awards nominations are announced Monday morning and AFI unveils its top 10 list Wednesday.

It’s all over the map, and there are questions about some of the late-breaking Christmas entries such as David O. Russell’s Joy, which both Tom and I love but is getting mixed early response that could certainly impact its Best Picture nomination prospects. Or Quentin Tarantino’s The Hateful Eight, which missed out on the SAG nominations because screeners weren’t sent. Is Leo the front-runner for Best Actor now that Johnny Depp was snubbed by the HFPA? Or can Trumbo’s Bryan Cranston pull an upset?

There is all sorts of intrigue going on, and we sort it out in our latest Smackdown. Click on the link above to watch.
