Salim Akil To Direct ‘Counterfeit Son’ For Alcon

Salim Akil has been tapped to direct as well as polish the script for Alcon Entertainment’s upcoming feature Counterfeit Son. Based on the 2000 young adult novel by Elaine Marie Alphin, it sees a family shocked when a young man appears at their door claiming to be their long lost and presumed dead son, who went missing six years earlier. The timing of their “son”‘s return — just as his trust fund matures — as well as the young man’s traumatic past, place him under suspicion and potential danger.

Akil will be polishing the script written by Matthew Aldrich, and the film is being produced by Steve Wegner, Broderick Johnson, Andrew Kosgrove, and Jessica Rhoades. The director of Sparkle and Jumping The Broom, Akil is repped by ICM Partners and Morris Yorn Barnes.
