Animated Film ‘Snowtime’ Gets Distribution From Shout! Factory & CarpeDiem

Shout! Factory and CarpeDiem Film & TV are partnering to bring the animated family film Snowtime! to the United States, with the film slated to premiere during the 2016 Sundance Film Festival.

Based on the 1984 live-action Canadian film La Guerre des Tuques (also known as The Dog Who Stopped the War), Snowtime! explores the sometimes mercurial relations between friends during childhood. The film follows a group of kids in a small village who set out during winter break to hold a massive snowball fight. 11-year-olds Luke and Sophie find themselves leaders of the opposing sides, with Sophie’s faction defending an elaborate snow fort against Luke’s. Whichever side controls the fort by the end of the break will be declared winner. However, what begins as a fun contest deteriorates into a more bitter conflict teaching the children valuable lessons about friendship, the importance of unity, and the emotional consequences of vicious rivalry.

Leading the English language voice cast are Angela Gallupo (Being Human), Lucinda Davis (Winx Club), Sonja Ball (The Legend of Sarila), Don Shepherd (Blue Mountain State), Jenna Wheeler, Heidi Lynne Weeks (Heelix), Elisabeth MacRae, Holly Gauthier (Arthur), along with Ross Lynch (Austin & Ally), and Golden Globe-winner Sandra Oh (Grey’s Anatomy, Sideways). Directed by Jean-François Pouliot and co-directed by François Brisson, it was written by Normand Canac-Marquis and Paul Risacher. Marie-Claude Beauchamp, Norman Thauvette, Paul Risacher, Patrick Roy, and Jeff Sackman executive produce, while Marie-Claude Beauchamp produces and Sophie Roy serves as Line Producer.

Shout! Factory is handling all U.S. distribution for the film, including theatrical, broadcast, video-on-demand, digital and home entertainment rights. A strategic rollout is planned beginning with theatrical release in 2016.
