Coen Bros’ ‘Hail, Caesar!’ To Open Berlin Film Festival

The Coen BrothersHail, Caesar!, featuring an all-star cast including George Clooney, Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum, will open the Berlin Film Festival on February 11. Also starring in the zany Hollywood caper are Scarlett Johansson, Frances McDormand, Tilda Swinton and Ralph Fiennes. The story follows a single day in the life of a studio fixer who is presented with plenty of problems to fix.

The Coens opened Berlin in 2011 with their remake of the Western True Grit starring Jeff Bridges and Hailee Steinfeld. Hail, Caesar! reunited the brothers with Brit production powerhouse Working Title, their frequent collaborators. This marks the second A-list European film fest opening-night selection in a row for Working Title dynamic duo Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner after Everest opened Venice this year. The Coens also produce through Mike Zoss Productions. Universal Pictures is releasing the film worldwide. It will open in Germany on February 18.

“It is wonderful that Joel and Ethan Coen are once again opening the Berlinale,” said fest director Dieter Kosslick. “Their humour, unique characters and fantastic narrative skill are guaranteed to thrill the audience.”
