EXCLUSIVE: Marc Turtletaub and Peter Saraf’s New York-based indie production and finance company Big Beach is opening a Los Angeles office, to be led by executive Dani Melia. The new outpost will be headquartered at the Venice offices of Big Beach’s micro-budget producer Beachside, and the move will give the company an increased in-person connection to Hollywood-based agencies and creatives.
Big Beach just wrapped principal photography on Jeff Nichols’ Loving, the civil rights-era biopic starring Joel Edgerton and Ruth Negga. It has several projects in development including Michael Mohan’s original feature The Ends, a contemporary anti-romantic comedy co-written by Chris Levitus; Howard Rodman’s adaptation of Mary Pilon’s bestseller The Monopolists, about the history of the famed board game; and an animated adaptation of Jack London’s White Fang to be directed by Alexandre Espigares.
Big Beach’s credits include Little Miss Sunshine, Everything Is Illuminated, Our Idiot Brother, Jack Goes Boating and Safety Not Guaranteed among others.
