‘The Beautiful Bureaucrat’ Thriller Drama Produced By Neal Baer Set At The CW


The CW has put in developmentthe-cw a drama from Under The Dome showrunner Neal Baer and the series’ co-executive producer Alexandra McNally.

Alexandra McNallyWritten by McNally, the project is based on the recently published novel The Beautiful Bureaucrat by Helen Phillips. When a young woman gets a data entry job at a mysterious corporation, she discovers that the information she is logging is building a database that has the power to affect fate – including her own. McNally and Baer executive produce for CBS TV Studios where Baer’s Baer Bones Productions is under an overall deal.

This is the second consecutive collaboration for Baer and McNally. Last year, they sold a medical drama to CBS, which also was written by McNally and executive produced by her and Baer. At the CW, Baer last season teamed with Marc Cherry for prep school spy drama Cheerleader Death Squad, which went to pilot.

Phillips’ book, which came out in August, has been longlisted for the 2015 Center for Fiction First Novel Prize.

Law & Order: SVU and ER alum Baer is coming off a three-year stint as executive producer/showrunner on CBS/CBS TV Studios’ summer drama series Under The Dome. McNally joined the show in Season 2 as supervising producer and was upped to co-executive producer in Season 3.
