Indie Comedy ‘Dude’ Rounds Out Lead Cast With Trio Of Actresses

The indie comedy Dude has completed its quartet of leads with Kathryn Prescott, Alexandra Shipp, and rapper/actress Nora “Awkwafina” Lum joining previously announced star Lucy Hale. The film follows four female best friends navigating the final two weeks of high school as they deal with the first real losses in life — leaving your best friends, your first encounter with death, and the loss of time. It covers the odd mixture of grief and nostalgia during that period of life, and getting stoned with your friends in your car while listening to hip-hop. ICM Partners is selling worldwide rights to the film.

Shipp will next be seen in X-Men: Apocalypse as the young Storm, and recently appeared as Ice Cube’s wife Kimberly Woodruff in Straight Outta Compton. She’s repped by ICM Partners and Elevate Entertainment.

Prescott currently stars in MTV’s Finding Carter will next appear in Broken heart, MO opposite Jenna Elfman. Previously, she starred in BBC’s Skins. She’s repped by Gersh, Curtis Brown and Principal Entertainment LA.

Lum has established cult success as a rapper under the moniker Awkwafina, releasing the album “Yellow Ranger” in 2014. As an actress, she appeared in the third season of MTV’s Girl Code, and will next be seen in Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising. She’s repped by UTA and Principato-Young Entertainment.
