Charlie Hebdo Slings Defiant Mockery On Post-Attack Issue Cover

As expected, Charlie Hebdo has weighed in on the devastating attacks visited on Paris last Friday by ISIL-affiliated terrorists with positively hilarious cover for the latest issue. Offering a defiant celebration of French secular values, an en français F-bomb to go along with it, and a gallows humor look at the attack itself, the cover definitely doesn’t disappoint. But don’t take my word for it, have a look for yourselves. (Via Matthieu von Rohr on Twitter.)

For those of you who don’t speak French, it says “They have weapons. F**k them, we have champagne!” Seconded.

The controversial magazine was of course the victim of similar horrors this year, having been besieged January 7 by terrorists who, outraged by satirical depictions of the prophet Muhammed, stormed the offices and murdered 12 people. That attack sparked a wave of support from entertainers and politicians alike, a sad foreshadowing to last weekend.

The point: if ever there was justification to drink, it’s in defiance of people who would kill you for doing so. In other words, cheers.
