Don Cheadle Joins Live Read of Black List Script ‘El Fuego Caliente’; AFI Awards Date Changed

House of Lies star Don Cheadle has joined the cast of the upcoming live reading of the 2011 Black list script El Feugo Caliente. Melanie Lynskey (Togetherness), and Natalie Martinez (End of Watch) have also come on board, joining previously announced cast members Roselyn Sanchez, Jaime Camil, Judy Reyes, Stephanie Beatriz, Diego Boneta, Ben Schwartz, and narrator Anthony Mendez. Casting for the readings is handled by Lisa Zagoria of Aquila Wood Casting.

Written by Schwartz, who is also directing the live read, the story is a remake of Soapdish that follows telenovela icon Penelope, who desperately dreams of escaping to hollywood stardom. After a jealous costar and conniving producer resurrect her character’s previously-killed off ex-lover, Penlope’s life becomes crazier than the show on which she stars. The live read of El Feugo Caliente happens at the Montalban Theater in Hollywood, Saturday, November 21, 2015 at 8:00 PM. Tickets are now available.

Due to an unusual amount of late-year releases, the announcement of honorees for AFI Awards 2015 has been pushed back from its scheduled December 7 date to allow the jury time to screen submitted films. The official selections will now be announced December 16. AFI Awards is the organization’s annual list of the year’s 10 most outstanding films and 10 most outstanding television shows. Honorees are selected by a jury of experts from film and television, along with artists, scholars, critics, and AFI trustees.

The announcement will be released to the press and posted on AFI’s official site. The subsequent celebratory luncheon remains scheduled for January 8, 2016 in Los Angeles.
