Emma Stone Boarding ‘Love May Fail’ As Hannah Minghella Brings Matthew Quick Book To TriStar

EXCLUSIVE: Emma Stone is coming attached to Love May Fail, an adaptation of the novel by Silver Linings Playbook author Matthew Quick. Mike White has written the script. The project is moving from Columbia Pictures to TriStar, one of several scripts that Hannah Minghella developed there and brought with her when she took over the division. Matt Tolmach is producing with Elizabeth Cantillon, latter of whom also developed the book as an exec before she left to become a producer.

Tolmach is producing Jumanji, and Cantillon produced Concussion for Sony. In Quick’s novel, a woman who is coming off a demoralizing ending to her marriage to a cheating husband returns to her hometown determined to clear the name of her favorite English teacher, whose career was ended forcibly after a classroom scandal. No director at this point.

Stone has a close working relationship with the studio and Tolmach from Superbad, Zombieland, and the Amazing Spider-Man films. Tolmach is in preproduction on Move That Body and The Bringing. Stone is repped by WME and Anonymous Content.
