WE TV Tips Off Docuseries ‘Basketball Moms’ From ‘Hell’s Kitchen’ Producer

WEtv is getting Basketball Moms into the game, developing an hourlong unscripted series about five Houston-area mothers whose sons play on rival youth teams and dream of making it to the NBA. Expect bonding, clashing and the promise of true friendship among the moms who will do whatever it takes to help their kids achieve their goals.

“Any show focused on parents, kids and a shared activity has the right ingredients for high drama,” WEtv President Marc Juris said. “Add in the potential of an NBA career and the transformational impact of that on both player and family, and you take things to a whole other level.”

The Basketball Moms starting lineup includes a single mom, a coach’s wife and the reality-inevitable pot stirrer and party girl. Each has a unique story, but they all have two things in common: their mutual friendship and shared dreams for their sons. Basketball isn’t just a hobby for these families, it’s a way of life that comes at a high price.

The project from A. Smith & Co. Productions (Hell’s Kitchen) is exec produced by Arthur Smith, Kent Weed, Frank Sinton and Christmas Rini.
