James McDaniel Heads To ‘Sleepy Hollow’; Tonye Patano Collars ‘Brooklyn Animal Control’ Role

James McDaniel has landed a paternal role in Fox’s Sleepy Hollow. The NYPD Blue veteran will play Ezra Mills, the absent father of Abbie (Nicole Beharie) and Jenny (Lyndie Greenwood) who has reappeared with a renewed interest in being part of their lives. He’ll appear in at least one episode when the series moves to Friday starting February 5. McDaniel spent 12 seasons on NYPD Blue and most recently recurred on Orange Is The New Black and The Following. His credits also include Chicago Med, Limitless, Madam Secretary and the Amazon pilot Hysteria. He is repped by Innovative Artists.

Tonye Patano has joined the cast of the USA Network pilot Brooklyn Animal Control, based on the IDW Publishing comic created by JT Petty. It follows the inner workings of a secret subdivision of the NYPD that functions as social services for some of the city’s most unique citizens: werewolves. Patano will play Jill Wilson, a member of the Brooklyn Animal Control team who looks like someone you want to lean on and tell your troubles to. She works to preserve the delicate balance between the powerful Kveld Ulf werewolf families and the unsuspecting public. Jill joins the discussions of the BAC when they start to realize that the current head of the Tolk family might have to step down, leaving things unstable. Repped by Phoenix Artists and Freeze Frame Entertainment, Patano will recur if the pilot goes to series. The actress’ credits include the recent features Time Out of Mind and Every Secret Thing, and her TV work includes Law & Order: SVU, One Life To Live and Weeds.
