CBS Sets LAPD Mexican-American Family Drama Produced By Leonard Goldberg

From the executive producer of Blue Bloods comes another CBS drama project about a multi-generational family working in law enforcement, this time on the West Coast. The network has put in development Protect & Serve, a drama executive produced by Blue Bloods executive producer Leonard Goldberg and co-executive producer/director Dave Barrett. Written and executive produced by Elizabeth Davis Beall (Scorpion), Protect & Serve revolves around the multi-generational members of a Mexican-American family with deep roots in Los Angeles who intertwine personally and professionally due to their powerful careers in law enforcement, local politics and journalism — each dedicated to serving and protecting the people of their city. Its title stems from the motto of the LAPD: To Protect and to Serve.

Before joining CBS/CBS Studios’ Scorpion, Davis Beall worked on ABC’s Castle. She has a connection to the Los Angeles Police Department: Her husband, screenwriter Will Beall, is a former LAPD detective.

Blue Bloods, starring Tom Selleck as the patriarch of an Irish-American family with the NYPD, has been a solid performer for CBS on Fridays and a strong asset for CBS TV Studios, both in off-network syndication and internationally. Goldberg, who is on the CBS Corp. board of directors, is among the most decorated producers working in TV, having produced such classic series as Charlie’s Angels, Hart to Hard, Fantasy Island and Starsky & Hutch.

Davis Beall is repped by CAA and Management 360.
