The Santa Barbara International Film Festival will present Michael Keaton, Mark Ruffalo and Rachel McAdams with the 2016 American Riviera Award, which recognizes actors who have made a significant contribution to American cinema.
This is the first time the award will be given to three honorees. The trio will be honored with a tribute celebrating their careers during the upcoming festival’s run, culminating with their collaboration in Tom McCarthy’s Spotlight, which recently opened to critical acclaim. The film tells the story of the Boston Globe’s Pulitzer Prize-winning “Spotlight” team of investigative journalists, who in 2002 shocked the city and the world by exposing the Catholic Church’s systematic cover-up of widespread pedophilia perpetrated by more than 70 local priests.
The Santa Barbara International Film Festival runs February 3-13 at the Arlington Theatre.
