Shine Pictures And Lovely Day To Become Part Of Kudos

Sibling banners Shine Pictures and Lovely Day are officially becoming part of Kudos as part of a restructure in the Endemol Shine Group. Shine Pictures’ MD Ollie Madden is taking up an exec producer role within Kudos, with the film label’s development slate also moving over to Kudos. Current Shine Pictures projects include the Mumbai-set thriller The Siege, written by Anthony McCarten (Theory Of Everything) and to be directed by Justin Kurzel (Macbeth), which Deadline broke last week.

Other projects include Blowback, written by Gregory Burke (’71) and to be directed by Susanna White (Generation Kill); and an adaptation of bestselling novel The Farm by Tom Rob-Smith (Child 44).

Lovely Day was founded with Kudos in 2010 as a label led by Diederick Santer, who in May this year was appointed joint chief exec of Kudos with Daniel Isaacs. Forthcoming productions, such as ITV series Grantchester will be produced under the Kudos banner moving forward. Shine Pictures (Eastern Promises) will continue to produce feature films, but will now also work in TV with a particular focus on collaborating with film talent.

“Kudos has worked in close partnership with both companies for some time so bringing them under the same roof makes sense creatively and practically, and bringing Lovely Day and Shine Pictures’ projects into Kudos makes for a richer creative mix,” said Diederick Santer. “Furthermore, with talent now moving more freely than ever between film and television, it feels timely and natural that Ollie should be working across both forms from within Kudos.”

Lovely Day’s head of development, Richard Cookson becomes a Kudos senior development exec within Kudos and Shine Pictures’ Alice Pearse moves to the role of development exec. Some Kudos credits include Humans for Channel 4 and AMC; Broadchurch for ITV, and The Tunnel: Sabotage for Sky Atlantic and Canal +.
