As Content Media expands its film production activity, the company has hired Tom Butterfield as Head of Production for its movie unit. He will oversee productions already in the pipeline at Content and be charged with sourcing commercially viable projects for Content’s development and production slate. Reporting to President of Film Jamie Carmichael, he also will be responsible for expanding Content’s partnerships with talent, producers, agents and publishers; identifying new opportunities for feature film collaboration; and looking for co-production opportunities with other producers and indie companies.
“Tom brings a wealth of production experience along with many strong industry relationships from both London and Los Angeles that aligns perfectly with our growing trans-continental business,” Carmichael said. “We know he’s going to be a great support to our current roster of producers, as well as a terrific producer in his own right.”
Butterfield founded and ran the indie production outfit Culmination Productions, where he produced a slate that includes the upcoming Life At These Speeds and London Town and executive produced such films as Welcome To Me, 47m Down and Wild Oats. Before that he worked at Zide/Perry Productions in Los Angeles and the UK Film Council in the New Cinema Fund.
“I’m really excited to be joining the Content Team at this exciting time for the company, and I’m looking forward to working with them to expand the film slate,” Butterfield said. “There are already a number of high-profile projects in play, with talented directors and producers, and we’ll be presenting them to distributors in the months ahead.”
