EXCLUSIVE: Eidan Hanzei (Gamer) has been cast in a recurring role on the third season of Michael Bay’s action-adventure TNT series The Last Ship. Based on William Brinkley’s novel, The Last Ship deals with a global catastrophe that nearly decimates the world’s population. Because of its positioning, the Navy destroyer USS Nathan James avoids falling victim to the devastating tragedy. The captain and crew confront the reality of their new existence in a world where they might be among the few survivors. Details of Hanzei’s character are being kept under wraps, but the actor is known for portraying “warrior” types (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III, Heroes & Villains). Hanzei, repped by the Ward Agency and Whitaker Entertainment, recently wrapped a starring role in the feature Fallen Idols.
Brianne Howey (Horrible Bosses 2, Revenge) has joined the cast of Showtime’s hourlong dark comedy pilot I’m Dying Up Here. Written and executive produced by former stand-up comedian Dave Flebotte, executive produced by Jim Carrey and directed by Jonathan Levine, I’m Dying Up Here is set in L.A.’s stand-up comedy scene of the 1970s. Howey, repped by Untitled Entertainment, will play Kay, a spunky and promiscuous waitress at Goldie’s comedy club, the epicenter of L.A.’s stand-up scene. If the pilot is picked up to series, it would become a recurring role. Howey joins previously announced Melissa Leo, Ari Graynor, Sebastian Stan, Clark Duke, Andrew Santino, RJ Cyler, Erik Griffin and Stephen Guarino.
