Quentin Tarantino & Keith Olbermann To Headline Bill Maher’s ‘Real Time’

In what’s sure to be a humdinger of a telecast, HBO’s Real Time With Bill Maher this Friday will feature former ESPN and MSNBC host Keith Olbermann and in-the-news filmmaker Quentin Tarantino.

Olbermann is the top-of-show interview guest and Tarantino the midshow interview guest who also will sit in with the panelists. For good measure, one of Maher’s three panel guests will be former New York Rep. Anthony Weiner.

Bill Maher Advises Hillary Clinton to Go Away Before U.S. Presidency BidFor Olbermann, the appearance is a make-good on his abruptly canceled appearance in mid-September. A show rep said at the time Olbermann bailed on the cross-country trip after his dog became seriously ill. The outspoken Olbermann is known for his love of canines — he decried the killing of stray dogs in Sochi prior to the 2014 Winter Olympics and later endured Craig Ferguson’s Maltese-mocking during a visit to CBS’ The Late Late Show (“Does it fit in your purse?” Ferguson asked).

Meanwhile, the HBO appearance will come nearly two weeks after Tarantino angered cops on both coasts and around the country with his remarks at an NYC rally about police brutality. Today, addressing a statement by the president of the LAPD’s union that Tarantino “took irresponsibility to a new and completely unacceptable level,” he added: “Frankly, it feels lousy to have a bunch of police mouthpieces call me a cop hater. … That is not how I feel. But you know, that’s their choice to do that to me. What can I do? I’m not taking back what I said. What I said was the truth.”
