CBS Developing Murder Mystery Drama From ‘Extant’ Team

Key auspices behind CBS’ summer drama series Extant are reuniting for a new drama project at the eye network. The untitled spy couple drama comes from writers Elizabeth Kruger and Craig Shapiro, who served as executive producer/showrunners on the second season of Extant, and from the production companies behind the recently departed sci-fi series, Amblin TV and CBS TV Studios. Additionally, Kruger and Shapiro have closed a two-year overall deal with CBS Studios to start in June 2016.

The untitled drama centers on divorced ex-CIA spies who end up having to work with their biggest enemy – each other – when they’re tasked with solving the mysterious murder of a mutual friend. Kruger and Shapiro will write the script and will serve as executive producers alongside Amblin TV’s Justin Falvey and Darryl Frank.

Kruger and Shapiro, repped by UTA, Madhouse Entertainment and attorney Ken Richman, are a married couple and writing partners who worked as executive producers on Girlfriends’ Guide To Divorce and Necessary Roughness.
