STX Entertainment has picked up and is running with the film rights to the movie formerly known as Bad Moms, the R-rated comedy written and to be directed by The Hangover duo Jon Lucas and Scott Moore that had been set up at Paramount with Leslie Mann starring and Judd Apatow producing.
Scheduling thwarted the Mann-Apatow plans, though. But now the movie is back in business at STX, with Mila Kunis, Christina Applegate and Kristen Bell aboard to star. Suzanne Todd and Bill Block are producing. A new title is in the works.
The plot: A mom with a seemingly perfect life joins forces with two other over-stressed moms, leading them on a quest to liberate themselves from conventional responsibilities, going on a wild un-momlike binge of freedom, fun and self-indulgence — accidentally landing on a collision course with PTA head Gwendolyn and her blindly devoted clique of “perfect” moms.
