‘Band Of Robbers’ Trailer: Huck Finn And Tom Sawyer On A Crime Spree

What if Tom Sawyer, Huck Finn and the other rascally kids from Mark Twain’s seminal classic kids novels were born in the late 20th century and now, all grown up, embark on a life of crime? That is the bonkers premise behind Band of Robbers, a crime caper comedy written and directed by brothers Adam and Aaron Nee that premiered earlier this year at the Los Angeles Film Festival. Making full use of the public domain, Band of Robbers sees a grown up Huck, newly-released from prison, roped back into a life of crime by his childhood friend Tom, now a corrupt cop putting together a heist crew. It’s Bottle Rocket meets Sherlock, basically. That’s not a complaint. The latest trailer is out now and you can watch it here.

If you missed it during LAFF, you’ll be able to catch it in theaters soon; it’s been acquired by Gravitas Ventures, through whom it’s getting limited theatrical and simultaneous VOD release January 15, 2016. Band of Robbers stars Kyle Gallner, Adam Nee, Matthew Gray Gubler, Hannibal Buress, Eric Christian Olsen, Stephen Lang and Melissa Benoist. John Will, Rick Rosenthal, Matt Ratner, and Arun Kumar produce, while Nick Morton, Bert Kern, John Winn & Margo Miller, Tims Johnson, Matthew Gray Gubler, Nalit Patel, Noah Lang, and Evan Wolf Buxbaum are executive producing. The acquisition was negotiated by Nolan Gallagher and Michael Lange from Gravitas Ventures, and by both Will Lowery from APA and Ramo Law on behalf of the filmmakers.
