‘The Interview’ Team Reunites For TV Comedy, Which Lands At Fox As Put Pilot

Dan Sterling, who wrote the The Interview, is reteaming with the controversial film’s directors Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg for another comedy project with political elements, this time in TV. The trio has sold the half-hour Citizen Floyd to Fox with a put pilot commitment. 20th Century Fox Television, where Sterling is under an overall deal, is the studio.

Written/executive produced by Sterling, Citizen Floyd (a take on Citizen Kane?) is described as workplace comedy with political, action and suspense elements and no further details provided. Rogen and Goldberg executive produce through their Point Grey Pictures, with the company’s James Weaver also executive producing.

For Rogen and Golberg, this marks a first foray into network comedy. The duo recently landed a series order at AMC for comic book drama Preacher and a pilot order at Hulu for comedy Future Man. Both projects hail from Sony, where Rogen and Goldberg have done most of their TV producing work to date, extending their relationship with the company on the feature side, which is behind the duo’s movies, including The Interview.

For Sterling, this marks the second put pilot commitment this season. He also has a comedy at CBS with another feature duo, Phil Lord and Chris Miller. Sterling served as an executive producer on the final season of NBC’s long-running comedy The Office. He co-created/executive produced Sarah Silverman’s NBC comedy pilot and served as a consulting producer on the HBO comedy series Girls.

Sterling, Rogen and Goldberg also continue to collaborate on the feature side. Sterling’s spec script Flarsky, which was on the 2011 Black List, is in development with Rogen and Goldberg producing and Rogen and Charlize Theron attached to star.

Rogen and Goldberg are in production on Neighbors 2 and are producing The Night Before for Sony, which comes out November 20.

Sterling is repped by UTA and Sloane Offer. Rogen and Goldberg are repped by UTA and attorney Fred Toczek.
