The Voice coach Adam Levine has teamed up with director David Dobkin (Wedding Crashers) and reality production company Renegade 83 (Naked And Afraid) for an unscripted show, which has received a pilot order by NBC.

AARP's 2nd Annual Movies For Grownups Film Showcase Screening Of "The Judge"The untitled hourlong project was inspired by the popular music video for Sugar by Levine’s band Maroon 5, directed by Dobkin, which has garnered nearly 800 million views to date.(you can watch it above). Working with a team of improv experts, the show will feature unsuspecting superfans who are surprised when a star they love “accidentally” shows up at a major event in their lives. Examples: a couple about to get married discovers that a world famous recording artist is leading the house band, an Emmy Award-winning actor becomes an unexpected guest of a bachelorette party.

NBC Logo NewThe mix of fans and celebrities in the project is reminiscent of NBC’s successful Hollywood Game Night. The pilot stems from the first-look deal Levine inked with NBC for 222 Prods., his company with longtime manager/producing partner Jordan Feldstein. The two will executive produce along with Josh Gummersall (222), Dobkin, as well as David Garfinkle and Jay Renfroe of Renegade 83.

Songs and their accompanying music videos have increasingly been used as source material for TV projects. NBC is doing a TV movie based on Dolly Parton’s Coat Of Many Colors, while Fox developed a limited series based on Carrie Underwood’s Two Black Cadillacs.

Levine and 222 are repped by CAA and attorney Karl Austen. Renegade 83 is repped by CAA and attorney Eric Weissler. Dobkin is represented by WME.
