‘HTGAWM’ & ‘Scandal’ Lead Live+3 Rating Gains For Premiere Thursday

How To Get Away With Murder was the big story 2014 fall Premiere Week, with a very strong Live+Same Day rating (3.9 in 18-49) followed by a monster DVR lift (1.9 rating in Live+3), edged only by the season premiere of blockbuster comedy The Big Bang Theory (2.0).

After a surprisingly large -32% drop in its Season 2 premiere, HTGAWM came roaring back in Live+3 with the second-biggest premiere week L3 lift — a 1.51 rating (+56%) second only to Big Bang‘s 1.7. Fellow TGIT dramas Scandal and Grey’s Anatomy were close behind — Scandal grew by a 1.46 rating (+46%), followed by Grey’s Anatomy‘s 1.28 rating lift (+45%). Scandal ranks as the highest-rated Thursday scripted series in L3 with a 4.8 in 18-49, while HTGAWM caught up with Grey’s for a shared 4.1 L3 rating.

Heroes: Reborn - Season 1NBC’s Heroes Reborn had the biggest percentage lift on the night and second biggest for the week so far (60%), adding a 1.18 demo rating to go up to a healthy 3.1 in 18-49, a rare 3 rating for NBC on Thursday with regular programming. New NBC drama The Player rebounded after a slow Live+SD with a solid +52% gain off a modest base to a 1.8 L3 rating in 18-49, rounding out a pretty impressive showing for all original Premiere Thursday dramas in time-shifted viewing.

HTGAWM also led Thursday drama’s total viewer gains with +3.86 million, followed by  Scandal (+3.77 million), Grey’s Anatomy (+2.74 million), Heroes Reborn (+2.62 million) and The Player (+2.17 million).
