Facebook Back Up After 42-Minute Outage, Third Glitch This Month – Update

A lot of Facebook users may wish it had its “dislike” button now: The ad-supported social media site was down for about 42 minutes beginning at about 3:00 ET, according to CurrentlyDown.com. We don’t know yet the breadth of the problem, but the company acknowledged that it had a major outage.

This was the second glitch this week, and the third this month: Facebook also was down for about 14 minutes last Thursday, and reported problems on September 17.

Those who couldn’t access Facebook saw a message saying: “Sorry, something went wrong. We’re working on it and we’ll get it fixed as soon as we can.”

Facebook shares closed down 3.8% on a weak day for the entire market. The S&P 500 fell 2.6% and the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 1.9%.
