Epix Hires Ben Tappan In Programming; Amazon Adds Gina Kwon In Comedy

As it became an original series player with the pickup of its first two series, Graves and Berlin Station, Epix is beefing up its development team. Ben Tappan, former SVP at Landscape Entertainment, has been hired as VP Scripted Programming, reporting to EVP Original Programming Jocelyn Diaz. Tappan will work on the two new series, which head into production this fall. Tappan previously oversaw day-to-day operations of the TV department for Landscape’s first-look series deal with eOne Television and limited-series deal with Fox.

Amazon has added Gina Kwon as an executive in its comedy department. Kwon is an independent film producer who has worked with such directors such as Miguel Arteta, Miranda July, Zoe Cassavetes and Michel Franco. She got her start working with Arteta on Chuck & Buck, and The Good Girl, the latter a Spirit Award winner for Best Screenplay for Mike White. She produced Me And You And Everyone We Know, written and directed by July, which won a special jury prize at the Sundance Film Festival and the Camera D’Or at Cannes in 2005. Prior to producing features, Kwon worked with documentary producer R.J. Cutler, as a co-producer on his TNT series The Residents and a story producer on his Fox series American High (winner of a 2001 Emmy for Outstanding Non-Fiction Program). She also has a background in international film sales and acquisitions, serving as VP of Myriad Pictures from 1996-1999.
