Vanessa Williams Joins ‘The Good Wife’ As Recurring

Vanessa Williams has booked a recurring role for the upcoming seventh season of CBS’ The Good Wife.

She’ll play Courtney Boalt, an extremely successful, self-made businesswoman who is potentially interested in backing Peter Florrick’s (Chris Noth) campaign for President. In the process, she meets Eli Gold (Alan Cumming), sparking a mutual attraction.

Williams returned to Broadway last year for a special limited engagement in the musical After Midnight. Previously, she co-starred with Cicely Tyson and Cuba Gooding, Jr. in The Trip To Bountiful during the 2013 Broadway season. Her work in film, television, music and the Broadway stage has earned her four Emmy noms, 17 Grammy noms,  and a Tony nomination, among others, and Golden Globe, Grammy and Academy Awards for Best Original Song for her platinum single “Colors of the Wind,” from the Disney movie Pocahontas.

The Good Wife stars Julianna Margulies, Christine Baranski, Matt Czuchry, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Alan Cumming, Zach Grenier and Cush Jumbo. It is produced by Scott Free Productions and King Size Productions in association with CBS Television Studios. Ridley Scott, Robert King, Michelle King, Brooke Kennedy, David W. Zucker, Leonard Dick and Craig Turk are executive producers. It returns for its seventh season Sunday, Oct. 4 (9-10 PM, ET/PT), on the CBS Television Network.
