Will Packer Productions continues its push in the hourlong arena this season with Under Her Thumb. The drama, created by Alison McDonald (Red Band Society, American Dad!), has sold to NBC with a put pilot commitment. Universal TV, where Packer recently renewed his overall deal, is the studio.
Written by McDonald, Under Her Thumb is described as “Glengarry Glen Ross meets The Real Housewives” and as a campy cautionary tale set in the morally bankrupt world of high-end New York City real estate. McDonald and Packer executive produce, Will Packer Prods. head of TV Korin D. Huggins co-executive produces.
In its first TV development cycle, Will Packer Prods. focused on half-hour comedies, landing two series orders at the broadcast networks for this coming season: Truth Be Told on NBC and Uncle Buck on ABC. In the company’s second selling season, Will Packer Prods. so far has sold two projects, both hourlong — Under Her Thumb and Buckhead, which also went to NBC.
Packer, repped by UTA and Ziffren Brittenham, also executive produces the Roots remake for A+E Networks. In features, he recently executive produced hit Straight Outta Compton and his next film is the Ride Along sequel, which comes out in January. McDonald is repped by Paradigm.
