Emmys: Wins By Program And Network

HBO flat-out dominated the 67th Emmy Awards tonight, winning more hardware than the rest of the networks combined. The premium cable net won 14 trophies during the ceremony at the Microsoft Theater — including Outstanding Drama Series (Game Of Thrones), Comedy Series (Veep) and Limited, Movie or Special (Olive Kitteridge) — leaving the rest of the field to scramble for the other 12. When including last week’s Creative Emmy Awards, HBO’s selfishness was even more profound. The final tally: HBO 43, No. 2 NBC 12. No other network even managed double figures.

Game Of Thrones scored four Emmys tonight to eviscerate at the all-time record for most wins by a program in a single year with 12. NBC’s The West Wing had held the mark with nine in 2000. But it was another HBO show that earned the most Angels during the primetime telecast: Olive Kitteridge with six, a near sweep in the Limited, Movie or Special categories broken only by Regina King’s Supporting Actress win ABC’s American Crime.
