Emmys Battle Near Triple-Digit Heat Wave On Red Carpet

It’s days like these when you wish there were snow days in Los Angeles. Those Emmy nominees, TV executives and stars walking the red carpet for tonight’s show are braving 98-degree sunny weather here at the Microsoft Theater; making it worse is the added lighting from a number of TV outlets. The red carpet opened at 2:30 PM and runs until about 4:45 PM. Emmy planners are vying to keep folks from fainting by providing bottled water along with a scrim on the red carpet. TMZ reports that one celebrity, Olivia Culpo, who was handling Pre-Emmy coverage, nearly passed out. No need to worry say Emmy planners: There’s a medical staff in place throughout the red carpet to deal with such issues as they arise. Ricky Gervais, who is nominated for best actor in miniseries movie, said on the Fox red carpet, “Stepping in the car was like stepping into an oven.” When asked what he’s looking forward to at this year’s Emmys, House Of Cards EP Dana Brunetti, whose series is nominated for best drama, deadpanned, “I’m looking forward to getting into the air conditioning.”

How hot is it? Extra co-host Mario Lopez had this to tweet:

Ryan Seacrest who is interviewing nominees on the red carpet gave us a TMI:
