Fundamental Films, Keanu Reeves Revving ‘Rally Car’ For China Shoot

EXCLUSIVE: Keanu Reeves is in talks to star in Rally Car, playing an American race car driver in what is envisioned as The Cannonball Run┬áset in China. It’s being backed by Fundamental Films. The script was written by Jeremy Lott. He scripted Hood, the Robin Hood pic that Sony Pictures paid $1 million to buy, and which has Jerry Bruckheimer aboard to produce with Adam Goldworm. They are getting close to a director, and I’m told this is real. Stephen Hamel is producing through Company Films, the shingle he runs with Reeves.

Fundamental’s China base makes this a picture ripe to be a Chinese co-production, which is advantageous in many ways including getting the movie played in China and realizing a more favorable theatrical split. Reeves, who’s coming off the irresistible action revenge film John Wick, next will be seen in the Eli Roth-directed thriller Knock Knock. A sequel to John Wick is mobilizing as well. Action on this one will heat up during AFM. Reeves is repped by CAA; Lott, who is rewriting Man At Arms for Jonathan Liebesman to direct, is CAA, Aperture Entertainment and attorney Gregory Slewett.
