Emmy Drama Smackdown: Deadline’s Pete Hammond Takes On Gold Derby’s Tom O’Neil To Predict Winners – Video

If you think the Republican debates are drawing blood, check out the raging back-and-forth between me and Gold Derby’s Tom O’Neil as we continue to go after each other and predict the winners for Sunday’s Primetime Emmy Awards. With Gold Derby now the latest member of Deadline owner PMC’s growing media family — once again, welcome Tom, but you will get no honeymoon period from me — what better way to create a little friendly internal rivalry than this?

Yesterday we took on the Comedy races for series, lead actor and actress. Today it is the uber-competitive Drama races that we dive into with no fear of being wrong. During last weekend’s Creative Arts Emmy Awards ceremony, Game Of Thrones dominated — though it often does well in below-the-line categories. The bigger question is can this show finally take the top prize for Drama Series? Or will sentiment prevail and four-time winner Mad Men come back after three straight losses to again triumph for its final seven episodes? And don’t count out the rest, particularly Netflix, which has waged an aggressive campaign for its shows House Of Cards and Orange Is The New Black, the latter moving from comedy to drama. And will Jon Hamm and Elisabeth Moss finally break one of Emmy’s most shameful streaks and become the first to win an acting nod for the landmark Mad Men? These are just some of the questions we answer as we go head-to-head and try to tell you what will be inside those envelopes.
