‘Tuck Everlasting’ Musical Moves Broadway Date, Sets Key Cast

The new season is shaping up as a motherlode of musical making. The stage adaptation of Natalie Babbitt’s bestselling novel Tuck Everlasting will follow the limited-run Bruce Willis starrer Misery into the Shubert-owned Broadhurst Theatre in the spring. Previews are set to begin March 31, 2016, about a week later than previously announced, with opening night April 26. The show, directed and choreographed by Casey Nicholaw (Something Rotten!, Aladdin), had a well-received tryout earlier this year at the Alliance Theatre in Atlanta. The 1975 novel was also the basis of Disney’s 2002 Jay Russell-directed film, which starred William Hurt, Sissy Spacek and Alexis Biedel.

In those roles, the show will star Emmy winner Michael Park as Angus Tuck, current Finding Neverland co-star Carolee Carmello as Mae Tuck, and 11-year-old Sarah Charles Lewis as Winnie Foster. Also set for the cast are Andrew Keenan-Bolger (Newsies) as Jesse Tuck; Terrence Mann (Pippin, Les Misérables) as The Man in the Yellow Suit; Fred Applegate (currently in Wicked) as Constable Joe along with Robert Lenzi, Michael Wartella and Valerie Wright.

The book for Tuck Everlasting is by Claudia Shear (Dirty Blonde); music and lyrics by the team behind the extraordinary off-Broadway musical The Burnt Part Boys Chris Miller (music) and Nathan Tysen (lyrics). Sets are by Walt Spangler (A Christmas Story The Musical, Desire Under The Elms), costumes by Gregg Barnes (Something Rotten!, Aladdin, Kinky Boots), lighting by Kenneth Posner (Finding Neverland, Kinky Boots, Wicked), sound design by Brian Ronan (Beautiful: The Carole King Musical, The Book Of Mormon), orchestrations by John Clancy (Fun Home, Shrek); musical supervision by Rob Berman (The Pajama Game, eight seasons as music director of Encores!), and casting by Telsey + Company (Bethany Berg Knox, CSA).

The show is produced by Grove Entertainment, Arlene Scanlan & Michael Jackowitz, Howard & Janet Kagan, Jeffrey A. Sine, and Barry Brown. Additional casting and ticketing info will be announced later.
