Emily Ratajkowski & Spencer Boldman Go For ‘Cruise’; Natalie Paul Joins Untitled Colin Warner Pic

Emily Ratajkowski (We Are Your Friends) and Spencer Boldman (Lab Rats) are set to star in the indie pic Cruise, a period youth-culture drama from writer-director Robert Siegel. Set during summer 1987, it centers on Gio Marchetti (Boldman), a working-class Italian-American who has little on his mind but racing cars and chasing girls. That is, until he meets Jessica Weintraub (Ratajkowski), a nice Jewish girl from Long Island who goes to Gio’s neighborhood for some illicit thrills on the wrong side of the tracks. Principal photography set to begin this fall in New York. Ratajkowski is onscreen opposite Zac Efron in the EDM pic We Are Your Friends, and her credits also include The Spoils Before Dying, the Entourage movie and Gone Girl. She is repped by UTA, Untitled Entertainment and Bloom Hergott. Boldman stars on Lab Rats, which is ending its run on Disney XD after the current fourth season. He also appeared in the telefilm Zapped and features Dakota’s Summer and 21 Jump Street. Boldman is repped by UTA, Millennium Artists and Myman Greenspan.

Natalie Paul (Show Me A Hero) has landed a role in the Untitled Colin Warner feature from writer-director Matt Ruskin. It’s based on the story of Warner, an 18-year-old kid in crime-ridden 1980 Brooklyn, who was wrongly identified by a witness and ultimately sentenced to 15 years to life in prison. He would spend 20 years in prison, supported by his lifelong friend Carl King (Nnamdi Asomugha) who, despite having no formal legal education, obstinately fought to prove Warner’s innocence. Paul will play Antoinette, who grew up in with Colin in Brooklyn. After learning of his conviction she devoted her life to proving his innocence, and in the process, they fell in love. She starred as Doreen in the recent HBO miniseries Show Me A Hero and played an Assistant DA on the final season of Boardwalk Empire. Paul is repped by Authentic Talent and attorney Lev Ginsburg.

Altered Minds 2Gravitas Ventures has taken worldwide rights to writer-director Michael Wechsler’s psychological thriller Altered Minds. Judd Hirsch stars as a celebrated psychiatrist rumored to have worked for the CIA during the Cold War. During a family reunion, his adopted son (Ryan O’Nan) makes the stunning accusation that his dying father adopted his children not out of love but for the purposes of dark experiments in mind control. A night of revelations ensues against the backdrop of a winter storm. Gravitas set a November 20 day-and-date release for the film from Rowish Productions.
