‘I Am Cait’ Wraps With 1.3M Watching Live + Same Day

I Am Cait hit a four week high in most metrics in its Sunday finale, though the final episode of the Caitlyn Jenner reality series did not come close to its highly rated July debut.

An average 1.262 million viewers watched the unveiling of Sunday night’s finale, Live + Same Day. That’s up from previous weeks’ 1.0M, 1.1M, and 1.1M. The opening episode of the short-order series about the transitioned 1976 Olympian/former Keeping Up With the Kardashians patriarch had opened on July 26 with more than 2.7 million Live + Same Day viewers.

Steeper declines were experienced in the demo, where the eight-episode series that opened with a Live + SD 1.47M viewers, unveiled its wrap-up with 593K. As with its entire run, the finale skewed heavily female: 444K of those finale demo viewers were female, to just 148K male demo viewers. Final stats for Sunday’s finale may climb significantly, in keeping with earlier episodes – most notably the series first episode premiere, which jumped to 3.9M total viewers viewers in L+3.

Over its entire run, Cait clocked an overall Live + Same Day audience of 1.382M in its premiere timeslot –  virtually the same overall Live + Same Day crowd size as enjoyed by six epiosdes of Keeping Up with Kardashians and two of Total Divas  (1.384M) in same timeslot, same time last year.

But Cait did not do as well in younger demos over its run as had those KUWTK/Total Divas episodes last year in Live + Same Day premiere timeslot viewing. Cait came in 29% behind in 18-34 (379K vs 535K), and down 17% in 18-49 (715K vs 861K) – but upticked slightly (2%) in viewers aged 25-54 (717K vs 704K), and surged (61%) with viewers aged 50 and older (5,68K vs 352K).
