Amy Schumer has joined fellow honorees Meryl Streep, Sam Mendes, and James Corden at the 2015 Britannia Awards, as BAFTA Los Angeles has announced today she’ll receive the Charlie Chaplin Britannia Award for Excellence in Comedy. The award recognizes “talent whose popularity and cultural impact exemplifies the uniquely transcendent quality of excellent comedy,” and is being given to Schumer in recognition of her success with Inside Amy Schumer and her summer comedy hit Trainwreck.
As previously announced, Streep will receive the Stanley Kubrick Britannia Award for Excellence in Film, Mendes the John Schlesinger Britannia Award for Excellence in Directing, and Corden the Britannia Award for British Artist of the Year.
The Britannia awards pay tribute to individuals who have advanced motion picture art forms throughout the Anglosphere, honoring exceptional talent with ties to the British film industry. Sponsored by American Airlines, the 2015 Britannia Awards will be held in Los Angeles at the Beverly Hilton on October 30. Done + Dusted is producing this year’s ceremony.
