Diane Lane Pic ‘Bonjour Anne’ Wraps Ahead Of Sales Push; Jonathan Rhys Meyers To Topline ‘Shambhala’ – Toronto Briefs

Bonjour Anne, from American Zoetrope and Lifetime Films, has wrapped production in Southern France, and will be targeted toward a festival premiere and theatrical release some time in 2016. The film, starring Diane Lane and Arnaud Viard and featuring Alec Baldwin, follows a woman at a crossroads who, traveling to Cannes along with her successful film producer husband, finds herself on a two-day road trip with his business associate. What follows is a carefree journey replete with diversions involving picturesque sites, fine food and wine, humor, wisdom and romance — reawakening Anne’s senses and a new lust for life.

Written and directed by Eleanor Coppola in her scripted feature debut, it’s produced by Coppola and longtime collaborator Fred Roos (The Godfather: Part II, Apocalypse Now). American Zoetrope and Lifetime Films are producing in association with A+E Studios, with Molly Thompson of A+E Studios and Lisa Hamilton Daly, Rob Sharenow and Tanya Lopez of Lifetime Films executive producing. Corner Piece Capital is financing, and Elzévir Films provided production services. Legal representation for the film by Hirsch Wallerstein Hayum Matlof + Fishman, LLP. ICM Partners is representing North American rights, with Protagonist Pictures handling international. Distribution rights in Japan and certain other Asian territories have gone to Tohokushinsha Film Corporation

Jonathan Rhys Meyers has signed on for the lead in the new drama Shambhala, set to begin filming this fall. Shambhala follows the sole survivor of a plane crash in the mountains of Pakistan who must deal with that trauma against the backdrop of an alien culture and language. The story will be told non-chronologically, emphasizing themes of enlightenment and redemption. The film also stars Australian/Indian actress Pallavi Sharda (Lion), and English born actor Akshay Kumar (Homeland).

Written and directed by Summer Bodhi Nicks (Operation 021, Seedlings, Damaged), it’s produced by Singapore/Australia based production company Xeitgeist Entertainment Group, and Singapore/Japan based Marcys Holdings. The production team is made up of Huw Penallt Jones (the upcoming The Man Who Knew Infinity, Cold Mountain), Tayyab Madni (Associate Producer on The Man Who Knew Infinity) and Jomon Thomas (Damascus Cover, The Man Who Knew Infinity). Carnaby Sales & Distribution will handle the international sales.
