‘Katy Perry: Making Of The Pepsi Super Bowl Halftime Show’ Trailer: What 118.5 Million Viewers Didn’t See

EXCLUSIVE: Mandalay Sports Media and the NFL began filming behind the scenes last October and shot more than 100 hours of material leading up to pop superstar Katy Perry’s 12 1/2-minute halftime performance at the Super Bowl this February in Glendale, AZ. The result is Katy Perry: Making Of The Pepsi Super Bowl Halftime Show, a documentary that has just been set to world premiere tomorrow at the La Costa Film Festival. The announcement was just made

Super Bowl XLIX, a nail-biter between New England and Seattle won by the Patriots, drew a record 114.5 million viewers on NBC, and Perry’s halftime show — which featured Missy Elliot and Lenny Kravitz, snagged 118.5 million viewers. As many as 120 million-plus had tuned into the game as it hit the fourth quarter. The ducu gives its best shot at showing not just the prep that went into Perry’s performance but the nerve it took to pull off such a massive, career-defining performance.

John Hirsch directed the film which was executive produced by Mandalay Sports Media’s Mike Tollin. Rob Mackler, Lauren Griswald and Ron Yassen are producers. It’s a big get for the Carlsbad-set festival, which has a partnership with Tollin’s MSM (the fest opened last night and runs through the weekend, with John C. McGinley among the honorees). The Katy Perry screening is set for 4:30 PM at the Ruby G. Schulman Auditorium at the Carlsbad City Library Complex.
