Legendary’s Asylum Entertainment is expanding its executive team, citing an uptick in internal production and demands of the marketplace. CEO Steve Michaels and President Jonathan Koch credited much of the momentum to Ryann Lauckner, who has been promoted to EVP of the company. Lauckner quickly rose through the ranks after joining Asylum in 2010.
“It’s a great feeling to promote from within, especially with a talent like Ryann, whose track record and work ethic are second to none,” said Michaels. “She’s an absolutely incredible executive.”
In addition, Joan Harrison has been upped to Head of Scripted Television and Stephanie Lydecker to Head of Unscripted Programming. Lydecker has brought on SVP Matt Shanfield. He comes to Asylum from Oxygen, where he was VP Development, and has done stints at Irwin Entertainment, Shed Media and Mark Burnett Productions. She also announced the hiring of VP Ben Bitonti, who has been in overall deals at eOne, NBC and GRB.
Asylum Entertainment’s recent productions include miniseries The Secret Life Of Marilyn Monroe, The Lost Girls Of Manson and the documentary feature film Happy Valley. The company also is in pre-production on a sequel to its Emmy-winning miniseries The Kennedys.
