Hamptons Film Fest Adds Paolo Sorrentino’s ‘Youth’ To Opening Lineup

Dividing its opening night in half, HIFF will present the East Coast premiere of Youth on Friday, October 9 at its Southampton venue. The film, from Academy Award winner Sorrentino (The Great Beauty), stars Michael Caine and Harvey Keitel as old friends vacationing in a Swiss luxury resort. Fred (Caine) is a retired composer and conductor, enjoying his retirement and Mick (Keitel) a director planning his final film. While musing about their lives and illustrious careers, their past resurfaces and a sense of melancholy disrupts the vacation. The cast includes Rachel Weisz, Paul Dano and Jane Fonda. Fox Searchlight will release the film on December 4, 2015.

The festival officially opens in East Hampton on Thursday night, October 8, with the previously announced Truth, James Vanderbilt’s film starring Robert Redford, Cate Blanchett, Topher Grace and Elisabeth Moss.

HIFF also announced the “Views From Long Island” program, supported by the Suffolk County Film Commission, featuring the World Premiere of Marc Levin’s The Class Divide, Ron Davis’ Harry & Snowman, Alexandra Shiva’s How To Dance In Ohio, Robert Edwards’ When I Live My Life Over Again and Pippa Bianco’s short film Picturing Barbara Kruger. A $3,000 Suffolk County Next Exposure Grant will be awarded in this category. This program supports the completion of high quality, original director-driven low budget independent films from both emerging and established filmmakers who have completed 50% of principal photography within Suffolk County, New York.
