‘Mr. Robot’ Ratings Steady In Season 1 Finale
Pushed for a week because of similarities to the on-air slaying of two journalists in Virginia, the USA Network cyberpunk series Mr Robot ended its first season last night with cliffhangers galore. With that unexpected break in mind, Mr. Robot wrapped its 10-episode first run pretty much on par with its last original two weeks ago.
The Sam Esmail-created show was watched Wednesday by 1.210 million total viewers with 589,000 in the 18-49 demo for a 0.5 rating, according to Nielsen. That’s an 8% dip from the 1.32 million who watched the series’ last original August 19. The ninth episode of Mr. Robot had a 0.5 rating and 622,000 viewers in the demo, which meant the one-hour-and-about 13-minute finale slipped about 5% among 18-49s.
While never a big numbers magnet like many USA shows, the twisting tale of often discombobulated programmer Elliot, played by Rami Malek, was renewed by the cabler even before it premiered. The hacker drama’s June 23 debut provided its best viewership numbers with 1.75 million watching. The demo result for that opener was 0.5. The viewership low for Mr. Robot was the August 5 episode that had an audience of 1.15 million with a 0.5 demo rating. The demo high for the fairly steady first season was the 0.6 it hit on July 1 and July 8. The low was the 0.4 the show first got on July 15 and had again on July 29 and August 12.
A DVR-friendly series, Mr. Robot is averaging 1.4 million among 18-49s and 2.8 million viewers across all platforms and in delayed viewing, according to USA.
