Ryan Simpkins Joins ‘The House’ With Will Ferrell And Amy Poehler

Ryan Simpkins is moving into the upcoming comedy The House, also starring with Will Ferrell and Amy Poehler. The film is about a pair of cash strapped parents who accidentally blow the money intended to pay for their daughter’s college tuition. In desperation, they open an underground casino in their suburb and recruit locals to run the business. Simpkins will play Ferrell and Poehler’s daughter.

The House was the subject of a bidding war earlier this year, with New Line winning with a larger than average deal that would see it commit to a $40 million budget. The script is from Brendan O’Brien and Andrew J. Cohen, who wrote the 2014 hit comedy Neighbors, with Cohen directing. Good Universe, which produced Neighbors, is also producing here, along with Ferrell and Adam McKay through their Gary Sanchez banner. Jessica Elbaum and Chris Henchy are executive producing.

Simpkins has previously been seen in Pride and Glory, Revolutionary Road,  and A Single Man. She also appeared as “Lizzy” in Jeremy Fink and the Meaning of Life, based on the children’s book by Wendy Mass. She’s repped by WME, Thruline and Ziffren Brittenham.
