Mads Mikkelsen Talks To Join ‘Doctor Strange’ In Very Early Stages

Will Mads Mikkelsen be adding another Disney tentpole to his resume soon? The Hannibal star is in talks to join Marvel’s Doctor Strange pic as one of the baddies, that much is true. But those talks are at a very very preliminary stage, sources tell Deadline. In fact, right now, Mikkelsen, who is also in the next year’s Star Wars: Rogue One, is but one of a number of actors being considered for the unspecified villianous role. Long story short – this may be a long shot at this point. As an example of the Strange ways at play – last month, it was reported that Rachel McAdams was in early talks to get on board on Strange as the female lead but nothing has been signed and sealed on that one either.

Slated for a November 14, 2016 release, the tale of the Supreme Sorcerer stars Benedict Cumberbatch as Strange and is being directed by Scott Derrickson. The Jon Spaihts written flick also features Chiwetel Ejiofor and Tilda Swinton. Mikkelsen, who was released from his contact on the now cancelled and seemingly staying that way Hannibal earlier this summer, is repped by UTA and Art Management.

Our sister publication Variety first reported the Mikkelsen talks for Doctor Strange.
